Frequently Asked Questions About Dentures
Will dentures make me look different?
Prosthodontic technology is advanced enough that your friends might not notice a difference in your appearance. Each set of dentures is personalized to your whole mouth and we will make molds in wax for you to try them on and see how they look before we make you a permanent set of custom dentures or partials.
Will dentures affect the way I speak and eat?
When you first get dentures, you will need to be patient about getting used to speaking and eating with them in. With speaking, you may experience lisping, but most people adjust pretty quickly. Eating will feel funny at first, but we will work with you to help you relearn your habits quickly.
Can my dentures be fixed?
If your upper or lower denture displays a hairline crack or is completely broken, or a tooth has fallen out or broken, we may be able to repair it quickly.
What is denture relining?
Denture relining involves resurfacing the underside of dentures with new acrylic to assure they fit properly against the gums.
Do I need my dentures relined?
Dentures usually last about 5 – 10 years and during that time you may experience bone loss of your jaw or changes in the structure of your gums. If your dentures are loose and/or causing you discomfort, you may need a reline. Call us to schedule a free consultation and we'll be happy to tell you your options for relines, adjustments or new dentures.
